If you've flown a Sano SS in light winds, you know this
is a remarkably efficient design thanks to the optimized sail shape and
the ability to reduce drag with the ShapeShifter™. As a result, many flyers
have commented that the standard SS feels more like an UL kite in light winds.
Now the SSL pushes the light wind
envelope even further. In fact, it will give most dedicated SUL models a run for
their money! And despite the amazing drive in light winds, the SSL
is still durable and retains enough mass for performing the latest
technical tricks.
Perhaps the best way to define the SSL's
performance is that it's
like crossing a ZeroStar SUL with a Sano SS. The reduced
mass is immediately noticed resulting in more floaty axels and pinwheels. Yet,
it is still very easy to do backspins and multilazies with this kite. You'll also detect differences when
performing rising fades and rising backflips (lifters). For sure, the SSL will
successfully do these maneuvers in less wind.
So while sharing many performance
attributes with the SS, the SSL has it's own distinct personality.
For this reason, most customers are now opting to add both versions of the
Sano to their collection. That speaks volumes about the awesome capabilities and high "fun factor" of these
kites!
Regarding the price, a slight cost increase over the SS
will be necessary due to the more expensive airframe and the labor intensive
multi-piece leading edges pockets. Optional aesthetic
upgrades include various appliquéd logos and the premium 'EX' package.
